Homestyle Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole

A hearty breakfast casserole that’s easy to make and perfect for slow mornings and special occasions.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 24 ounce package frozen tater tots
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage, I use Jimmy Dean's regular
  • 9 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk or heavy cream, or a mixture of the two
  • 2 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dry mustard

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Brown the sausage in a skillet, breaking into small pieces as it cooks
  • Drain any excess grease from the sausage and set aside
  • Whisk up together the eggs, the milk or cream, and the spices in a bowl
  • Put the tater tots in a lightly greased casserole dish, it's ok if some overlap
  • Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the tater tots
  • Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of the cheese over the sausage and tater tots
  • Pour the milk and egg mixture evenly over the top
  • Add the remaining 1 cup of cheese
  • Cover with foil and bake covered for 40 minutes
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the top is browned and the eggs are completely set.
  • Serve and enjoy!
